Blender Eevee realtime PBR rendering

Evermotion 2017-07-24 09:14 article  > Software

Scenes made by Emiliano Colantoni.

Italian cg artist, Emiliano Colantoni presented a couple of videos showcasing upcoming Blender realtime PBR renderer - Eevee. If you want to try it out, you can, just download a bleeding edge daily build of Blender 2.8 here. Be awared though - Blender 2.8 is still far away from release, some features are unimplemented, other can be unstable.

Eevee is the answer for growing trend of PBR rendering that started in game industry and now is a common apporach for creating realistic materials also in arch-viz. It is developed pretty fast and looks like a nice pre-vis solution for 3d artists and one day it could be used also as realtime rendering engine and be used by architecture visualization artists just like Unreal Engine 4. The biggest struggle now for using UE4 is exporting objects, materials and complete scenes to the engine and remaking all materials using Unreal Shaders. If Eevee delivers similar visual quality, it could replace Unreal Engine 4 in some applications or give better understanding of how game assets would look before exporting them to UE4 or Unity.

There is a long way to this now, but it is hard to deny that first Eevee showcase videos look promising. If you want to leasrn more about Eevee, check out the roadmap. And now, let's look on Eevee in action:
