The color scheme is great, no doubt, but the excessive use of glow on almost every single object in the scene kills the final look of this piece. Choice of design and furniture also works fine. But the composition is boring to say the least, and the various objects reflective properties, although physical correct, really helps to put an swift end to my excitement.
I have a hard time understanding why this piece made the front page.
BUT, besides my (to some) rather harsh words, this is a fine piece... But not
"front page fine" in my opinion.

The flower is too saturated, it is the only green object and its very, very green.
Reflection on the bookcase glass is confusing, flattens the space, plus the adjacent reflection seems a bit too strong considering you're almost looking straight through it. Obviously its a matter of focus of the eye, and you could see that situation, but it might be better if you would tone it down and you see through the glass door a bit more, create a deeper space with a bit more going on.
