I wanna show how to make concept sketch when you haven't got much time and the deadline was yesterday :) It looks pretty good according to time you waste on it -really fast one

First, create an empty layer and start to draw a fast sketch with a strong strokes. As you can see my brush size is 3 (canvas size was 800x600) and its opacity is set to 87%.

Draw as many lines as you need until you'll get the right shape. Don't worry, it looks a bit messy but catching the right proportions and pose, is most impoprtant at this moment.

It's time for a little "clean up". Using eraser tool (size 8, opacity 100%) try to erase all mistakes and inessential lines.

Create a new layer (it's very handy to keep sketch and color value on a different layers). Use brush (size 10, opacity 87%, fill 50%) and add a color value. I decided my creature's skin will be blue. Covering your sketch with colour, try to make brush strokes according to shape (for example -making ovals on stomach, an rather stright strokes on arms).

Don't bother yourself with details at this stage. Note i used quite dark gray for eyes, becouse first, we supposed to worry about midtones.

To make it a little soften i used airbush tool an colours picket from existing image (using eyedropper tool or holding down "alt" key in airbrush mode). Just in case, i used airbrush on a new layer (as you can see). Now it's time to create a subtle shadows areas. Choose a some kind of purple colour, swich your airbrush (size 65, OPACITY 19%(!)) to "color burn" mode, and gentle make some areas darker.

Please note, you can always use a "history brush tool" to rid off unnescessary areas of shadow.

Ok, thats enough. Look at these subtle purple shine on arm and neck. It's becouse we used purple colour for "colour burning" instead of dakr blue.

Choose brush tool once again (size 9, opacity 43%) and add some dark value to make increase contrast.

Now it's time to add some light. A very ligt blue will be just perfect for that.

To make eyes a very glossy I made a white spot and with smudge tool (size 13, opacity 35%) streched it down. Also added some pink smudges with same trick as you can see.

Time to think about details. First I drew a black eye-leashes, eye pupil, and some triangle shine.

Now, link all "colour layers" and layer containg sketch (no2, 3, 4) and with eraser tool remove all blurry parts to make all sharp.

Looks quite good. Create layer below the one containing our blue creature and darw some shadow with dark colour. Use brush with soft edges here.

Last time, pick a very dark blue colour and draw some deep shadows where needed with brush (size 5).

Ok, almost done. Just a last touch to make shadow under it's feet less gray and sad. Put some violet there. WELL DONE :)
